Samsung's Upcoming Tri-Fold Phone Might Have Slow Charging

Samsung’s Tri-Fold Phone Could Launch This Year

Samsung is expected to reveal its new tri-fold phone later this year. While many people are excited about this new type of phone, a recent leak suggests one thing may be disappointing — its charging speed.

Only 25W Charging Speed

Documents filed with Chinese regulators (as reported by SamMobile) show that the phone will support 25W wired charging. This is the same charging speed as the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

However, compared to other phones, this isn't very fast. For example:

  • The Oppo Find N5 offers 80W charging.

  • The Galaxy S25 Ultra charges at 45W.

Why Is Charging Speed So Low?

Samsung might be keeping the charging speed low to keep costs down or to ensure safety and reliability. Since this is a new type of device with a new design, adding faster charging might make it more expensive.

Some reports suggest the tri-fold phone could cost up to $3,500 (around £2,585 or AU$5,390), which is already quite high.

What We Know So Far

Samsung has confirmed that the tri-fold phone is in the works. However, most other details are still rumors.

One of those rumors is that the phone will be called the Galaxy G Fold. This name would match Samsung's current foldable series.

Screen Size Details (Rumored)

If the rumors are true, here’s what the phone might offer:

  • Outer screen: 6.49 inches

  • Inner screen: 9.96 inches (when fully unfolded)

This means the phone would be close in size to a tablet when open.

Possible Release Date

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are expected in July. There’s a chance the Galaxy G Fold could launch at the same time. But some sources say it may come later in the year.
