Apple AirTag 2 Is Almost Ready

Apple AirTag 2 Is Almost Ready

Apple’s big WWDC 2025 event is happening today. If you’re hoping for new gadgets, you might be disappointed. According to trusted reporter Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple won’t release any new hardware at the event.

Instead, WWDC will focus on software updates like iOS 26 and macOS 26, not small gadgets like AirTag.

AirTag 2 Might Launch Soon

Even though it won’t show up at WWDC, AirTag 2 could launch soon. Gurman says it’s "nearly ready" and has been in the works for several months. That means we likely won’t have to wait too long to see it hit the market.

What Is AirTag?

In case you’re not familiar, Apple’s AirTag is a small device that helps you track items like keys, bags, or wallets. You use the Find My app on your iPhone to locate each AirTag.

What’s New in AirTag 2?

Based on rumors, here are three main upgrades coming to AirTag 2:

  1. Better Tracking Range
It may include Apple’s new Ultra Wideband chip, which could give it three times more tracking range than the original AirTag.

  2. Vision Pro Integration
It might work with Apple’s Vision Pro headset, making it easier to locate items in a mixed-reality environment.

  3. Tamper-Proof Speaker
A new speaker design may make it harder for someone to disable the AirTag, which would help prevent misuse like stalking.

Same Design as Before

Don’t expect a new shape or size. Apple is likely to keep the same small circular design that the current AirTag uses.

Should You Wait for It?

If you’ve been thinking of buying an AirTag, it might be worth waiting just a bit longer for AirTag 2. With better tracking and added safety features, it could be a smart upgrade.
