iPhone 17 Colors Officially Confirmed: Explore Apple’s 2025 Color Palette
With the official launch of the iPhone 17 lineup just months away, multiple reports have surfaced detailing the new color options Apple will offer. Known for its signature aesthetic choices, Apple is set to introduce fresh hues across its 2025 iPhone models—and this year’s selection promises to be particularly striking.
Macworld has obtained exclusive information from independent sources, corroborating recent leaks and providing the most accurate preview yet of the iPhone 17’s color variants.
iPhone 17: The New Color Options
Recent leaks had already hinted at potential color choices for the iPhone 17 series. Notably, tipster Majin Bu claimed that Apple was testing purple and green for the standard iPhone 17, while the rumored ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air would debut in a light blue shade.
Adding credibility to these claims, renowned leaker Sonny Dickson suggested that the iPhone 17 Pro models would introduce dark blue and copper finishes. Macworld’s own sources—who previously accurately predicted the Desert Titanium color for the iPhone 16 Pro—have now confirmed these new shades for the iPhone 17 lineup.
Further substantiating these reports, Macworld has reviewed an internal document containing Pantone color codes used as references for the iPhone 17’s design.
iPhone 17 & iPhone 17 Air: Distinctive Color Variations
While the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus shared identical color options, Apple will differentiate the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air with distinct palettes.
iPhone 17 (Standard Model) Colors:
Black (same as iPhone 16)
White (same as iPhone 16)
Steel Gray (Pantone 18-4005-TPG)
Green (Pantone 2282 U)
Purple (Pantone 530 U)
Light Blue (Pantone 658 U)
iPhone 17 Air Colors:
Black (same as iPhone 16)
White (brighter/cooler tone than iPhone 16)
Light Blue (Pantone 657 U, slightly lighter than standard iPhone 17)
Light Gold (Pantone 11-0604 TPG Gardenia)
Apple reportedly opted for less saturated tones on the iPhone 17 Air to emphasize its ultra-lightweight design, expected to weigh just 145 grams with a 5.5mm thickness. The Light Blue variant is said to resemble the Sky Blue shade from the M4 MacBook Air, while Gardenia Gold will be a softer iteration of the iPhone 16 Pro’s Desert Titanium.
iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max: Bold New Finishes
The Pro models will also receive an updated color selection, including:
Black (same as iPhone 16 Pro)
White (same as iPhone 16 Pro)
Gray (similar to Natural Titanium)
Dark Blue (Pantone 19-4025 TPG Mood Indigo)
Orange (Pantone 1501243 TCX Papaya, described as having a "fluorescent" effect)
The Dark Blue shade is expected to closely resemble the Blue Titanium from the iPhone 15 Pro. Meanwhile, the Orange variant will offer a vibrant, eye-catching finish.
Notably, Apple is reportedly switching from titanium to aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro models, which has influenced the chosen color tones. Real-world lighting and material differences may cause slight variations from the Pantone references.
iPhone 17: What Else to Expect
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, featuring:
