Here are the five key security features highlighted by Samsung—some new, some enhanced—that users should enable immediately:
1. Theft Detection Lock
This feature leverages the phone’s sensors to detect sudden movements indicative of theft (such as snatching) and automatically locks the screen to prevent unauthorized access.
2. Offline Device Lock
If a device remains offline for an extended period, this function locks it down, adding an extra layer of security when the phone is disconnected from networks.
3. Remote Lock
Users can remotely lock their device via another smartphone or tablet if it’s lost or stolen, ensuring sensitive data remains protected.
4. Identity Check
Critical security settings now require biometric authentication (fingerprint or facial recognition) before changes can be made, preventing unauthorized alterations.
5. Security Delay
If biometric data is reset, a one-hour waiting period is enforced before full access is granted. This delay provides victims of theft enough time to remotely lock the device or take further protective measures.
How to Enable These Features
To activate these security settings:
Open Settings on your Samsung device.
Navigate to Security and privacy > Lost device protection.
Register your device with Find My Mobile (essential for Remote Lock).
Toggle on the additional security options as needed.
